Come visit the world of downtown D.C. Just a few blocks from the National Mall and all its federal monuments and memorials, downtown D.C. is a bustling, thriving world filled with shops, businesses, clubs, bars, sports arenas, and other major sites. Let's take a trip through this exciting area! 

"Power and Prominence" will guide us through the exciting world of the White House and the surrounding Lafayette Square neighborhood. We'll see the homes of and other major sites where some of the wealthiest and most influential people lived, worked, and made their mark on United States history! 

Let's meet at Union Station, built as Washington's ceremonial gateway.  The man who first organized the March on Washington, when Martin Luther King was 11, will welcome us.  We will explore Washington, DC's most authentic neighborhood for a few blocks. It is urban planning a century ahead of its time.

     The neighborhood  once housed everyone from Lincoln to confederate spies in the Old Capitol Prison. We will see the bar the Senate spared, and the only State Embassy in Washington. The largest collection of Shakespeare's folios in the world (including England) is found at the Folger Shakespeare Library.
     
     We will see the Supreme Court and the East Front of the Capitol as we approach the world's largest library. The Jefferson building houses its namesake's library, the seed of  the national library in the world. And one of the most beautiful in Washington. Built in the exuberance of post Civil War America, it features everything from carved Italian marble to the latest high-tech:  electric lights.  

     As this time, visitors must request tickets at https://loc.usedirect.com/LOC/, for a timed entry.  It should take 60-90 minutes to reach the library from the start of your tour.

"Capitol Hill Stroll" will take guests on a walking tour of Capital Hill, a very important neighborhood where the legislative and judicial branches are situated and where various other elements of political, social, and economic culture are present. 

Washington D.C. is a bustling, active city full of majestic monuments and memorials, museums, historic sites, and cultural centers. On this tour, though, come visit some of the exciting locations outside the main areas of the city in Maryland, Virginia, and DC. 

Welcome to Washington, D.C.! The following tour- "National Mall Expedition"- will show you all the major sites at the beating heart of this city. Learn about the majestic Capitol Building (where laws are discussed and passed), the White House (home of the executive branch), and all the various monuments and memorials. These include the Washington Monument- which dominates the city skyline- and the Lincoln Memorial (site of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous "I Have A Dream" speech). The National Mall is also home to the various free Smithsonian Institution museums, as well as souvenir shops, biking and walking paths, and numerous spots for beautiful photographs!  So, come! Let's explore the National Mall in the Nation's Capital!!

Special Location

Alexandria, Virginia- the current and past, childhood residence of yours truly- occupies a special place in the heart of Virginian and U.S. national history. When it was originally established in 1749, Alexandria was a 60-acre, 84-lot port city where farmers and merchants harvested wheat, sold livestock, and grew tobacco (to sell to England). Alexandria was located just south of Great Falls, where the Potomac River lost all depth and became unnavigable. Most important, though, it was where the first U.S. president, continental army general, and Founding Father George Washington lived. Come, let's explore his home city...and mine.
